112_Bonanza Peak and the Mary Green Glacier
The afternoon sun is gradually leaving Bonanza's very active Mary Green Glacier. The thunderous roar of boxcar-sized blocks of ice being pushed off the cliffs above Holden Lake can be heard often. The usual climbing route ascends the Mary Green on the right side then contours across to the left and follows the curving snow finger up to exit onto the rock. Parties rope up to cross the glacier and generally to climb the rock to the summit but those sure of hand and foot can scramble the summit formation. This shot is taken at the foot of tailings from a mine on the ridge between Holden Pass and Martin Peak.
